Repairing the shank of a Brilhart Mouthpiece
This nice Brilhart Eboline Mouthpiece with serial number has a cracked shank. The best way to repair that is to make it better than ever and to reinforce the shank with a solid brass ring.
This is the first time I do this. A nice job to fix on the lathe.
The first step is to make a solid brass ring from a long brass tube.
Then the mouthpiece is pinched on the wooden rod that is exactly the inner diameter of the shank.
The rod is mounted in the lathe so the shank can be trimmed to the right diameter.
Then the ring is glued to the shank and the ring is polished. The end result is a solid Brilhart Ebolin Special.
